Hello, welcome to my artist website. My name is Angela Boyko. I live in Alberta, Canada. I’ve been drawing and doodling as far back as I can remember. I wish I still had my first “book” – it was about a little girl who got so many birthday presents that they were placed in stacks from floor to ceiling. She walked in aisles around the room, amazed that she got so many gifts. These days, you’d call it hoarding. 🙂
I studied black and white photography as part of my Graphic Arts course at NBCC Woodstock. We’re talking old school – we shot on film with cameras that predated the digital age. We developed the film in a darkroom and made our own prints. To this day, I can remember the smell of the darkroom – I prefer the digital age when it comes to printing photos! I definitely appreciate everything that I learned in that course – it was a solid foundation that I’ve built on over the years.
As I dove deeper into digital photography, I stopped drawing. In the long run, that didn’t really work out well for me. My inner voice started prompting me to return to it. In fact, my word of the year for 2014 was “create”. 2014 contained an unexpected layoff, prompting me to re-evaluate my life. I started drawing again, and it was free therapy that I needed.
While I continue to search for a job that I can thrive in, I’ve started selling my photography and artwork online. To maximize my opportunities, I use different sites. This artist website will tie all of the sites together. My word for 2015 is “fulfill”, it will be interesting to see how that plays out this year.
I’ve also started a niche website – Enchanted Mermaid Treasures, based on my love of all things mermaid.
I have over seven years experience in web publishing. I see this artist website and EMT as not just a platform to share my work, but to keep my skills fresh. And to learn about marketing and SEO. The learning curve has been steep, but I’m enjoying the journey.
